EURYDICE by Sarah Ruhl, May 13 - June 19, Circle Theatre. Pulitzer Prize nominee and MacArthur “genius” award winner Sarah Ruhl (author of last season’s The Clean House) uses her wit and gift for lyrical theatricality to create a “modern” take on the Greek myth of Orpheus. As told through the eyes of its heroine, Eurydice undergoes a journey across the chasm of life and death and, once reunited with her father in the Underworld, must decide whether or not to return to the land of the living! The play explores the life circle of love, memory of experiences, and the world of the afterlife in a highly evocative and theatrical style that is both entertaining and challenging.
“a magical play with gripping emotional potency…a love letter to the world…” - The New York Times
