Arts Habitat will present classical guitarist Terrence Farrell at Arts in Progress (AIP) on Tuesday, October 23, in a presentation entitled, "The History and Art of the Classical Guitar". AIP takes place the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This month AIP moves to a new venue, the Stardust Playhouse, 2115 Fremont Avenue, Monterey. The event is free and open to the public and complimentary refreshments are served. The first and last half hours are devoted to socializing and community building; the program runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Since his professional debut in 1976, Terrence Farrell has become one of the world's most sought-after classical guitarists, winning international acclaim for his concerts, television appearances, and recordings. Born in Salzburg, Austria, Mr. Farrell began studying the guitar at the age of eight and eventually became the protege of American guitarist Guy Horn. He has since won awards in competitions from the National Endowment for the Arts, University of Washington, the Palm Springs Opera Guild and the Monterey Jazz Festival. His stylish, forceful musicianship and eloquent versatility have been praised by audiences and critics alike. He has played in forty-eight states and thirty-four countries, from North America to Europe and the Far East. He has twice performed for American presidents and has been a guest performer on the world cruise of the QEII.

Mr. Farrell teaches master classes and seminars, conducted in Europe, Asia and the United States. For years he directed the International Guitar Seminars in Bavaria. He often tours as a 'cultural ambassador' for the U.S. State Department presenting American music and culture to foreign audiences.
