Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering for the 7th Annual Marina Earth Day at Locke-Paddon Park!
This year, REI Marina is joining Citizens for Sustainable Marina, the City of Marina, Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District (MPRPD), Return of the Natives Restoration Education Project, Waste Management Inc., Monterey Regional Waste Management District, and Everyone’s Harvest. Together we'll help continue the restoration and beautification of this unique wetlands community park in the heart of Marina. Projects include removing invasive plants and planting native species, picking up trash, and painting over graffiti on fences and benches. No prior experience is necessary; MPRPD staff will provide necessary tools, as well as project supervision. Following the project, volunteers who register by 8:45am will enjoy a free “thank you” lunch. All ages are welcome to participate; anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Each participant will be required to sign a liability release form for MPRPD at registration. MPRPD recommends that you dress in layers for changeable weather and come prepared to get dirty. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, and closed-toe shoes. Bring gloves, if you have them; a water bottle (with water); and a hat/visor, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection. Registration will begin at 8:30 am on the day of the event. Groups of 10 or more are requested to register in advance by contacting Elizabeth Geisler at MPRPD, (831) 372-3196 x 105 or Everyone is invited to attend the Earth Day celebration at the park with activities, music, and entertainment for the community; for more information, contact Locke-Paddon Park is on Seaside Circle near the Marina Library. See you there!
