Join us for a fascinating evening with internationally acclaimed painter, David Ligare! David will discuss the relationship that photography maintains with contemporary painting and the influential role it plays in his own postmodern, neo-classical artworks. He received his formal artistic training at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. David’s paintings are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; San Jose Museum of Art; Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi, Florence; and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum of Art, Madrid. In 2015, recent solo exhibitions of his work were held at the Crocker Museum of Art in Sacramento; Hirschl and Adler Modern Gallery in New York City; and at the Chris Winfield Gallery in Carmel. This will be a wonderful evening in which a very talented and articulate artist and writer will explain the intricacies of two major art media in his paintings!
