    Wine Trail

Whether you are a wine connoisseur or enjoy a fine glass of wine, Monterey County has some remarkable, breathtaking vineyards creating superior wines. Monterey County is becoming one of the world’s premier wine-growing regions comprised of well-known wineries making the Central Coast a premiere wine touring destination.

Come enjoy charming and intimate wine tasting experiences at one of The River Road Wine Trail (formerly Steinbeck Wine County) who is an association with twelve Monterey County winery tasting rooms, located primarily along the River Road/Foothill Road corridor, on the Santa Lucia bench above the Salinas Valley. These tasting rooms specialize in limited release vintages and genuine hospitality and often times, visitors will be sampling with the actual winemaker. You will experience some of award winning wines such as Ventana Winery’s 2006 Sauvignon Blanc and Pessagno Winery’s award winning 2007 pinot noir- Lucia Highlands vineyard.

Explore Monterey Wine Country and learn about the wineries, vineyards, climates, and appellations of Monterey and Carmel Valley through The Monterey County Vinters & Growers Association (MCVGA) who brings together the talents and resources of members, partners and our community in order to promote and support the leadership in the art, the science and the business of wine.

Our region is renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but also produces excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and more.
